Tried the search and it is not definitive on an answer and it often gets lost in whether there needs to be differential valve or proportioning valves and how the pressure switch fits.
i just want to know …. What master cylinder to use AND push rod to have a dual circuit brake system retaining 4 drum brakes on a 65 ?
No debate about going to disc brakes, nothing about prop valves and residual valves just what master cyl to use.
I know I can go to CPP or similar but I want this to be done more affordably. Like a 67 m/c is around the $80 mark ish, I read some use a 74 for drums, others say 69 mustang with drums. What is the final answers ?
Nothing wrong with using a 1967 F100/250 drum/drum master. It's the next immediate evolution from the single jar master cylinder in the truck line. Lots of people go with it. No port for the pressure switch but there's a couple ways to deal with that. Switching to a newer style brake pedal switch is one good way to get away from the pressure switch. Or keep the pressure switch and plumb it into a T off of the front brake line when you replumb it for the dual circuit.
I would go with the newer brake light switch off the pedal.
The reason is the newer pressure switches that you would need to Tee into the system I hear leak after a bit.

I used a 67 mustang drum/drum master with no problems. It was a raybestos 36222. It is available on Amazon for $52.11. I teed my brake light awitch into the line but wish i would have used the switch that goes to the pedal, I bought one but haven't put it in yet because the underdash electrical is still a mess and i dont want to do anything under there since it all works, mess or no.

If you want to add a booster, use “57-72” F100 booster brackets from Summit Racing and Cardone OEM booster 54-73515 from Summit Racing. These items bolt in.
Ok and for that master cylinder did the push rod need to be changed as well ?
did not have to change the pushrod.
Please note that at the pedal end of the pushrod there is an eccentric bolt that can be used to make minor adjustments to pushrod length or pedal height.
