So I have what I think is 429/460 engine standoffs that I plan on using in my 69. I sandblasted them expecting to find part numbers. And nothing. I have compared them to several supposed examples online. They look right. Is there a way to be positive before they are painted, bolted in and there is an engine hanging above them?
Here is a thread that talks about 460 perches, unfortunately Fordification is down right now, so you can't see the pictures. Number Dummy did post the parts diagram for the Dent Side trucks in this and the part numbers.
I luckily had copied all that information from Fordification back when I started collecting parts. But since the perches I have do not have any part numbers on them its hard to be 100% what I bought is what it is suppose to be. Hold your surprise but sometimes people sell things on the internet that are not what was advertised. I know you are shocked by this.
Yup. I was constantly checking. My memory was pretty bad. I know the page gave the part numbers but I thought there was a picture showing the part number stamped in the perches. Guess I imagined that. It is what was worrying me most about mine was the lack of a part number.
Just a tip, when getting ready yo install your 460 the complete mounts from engine to frame have to be mounted on the engine. There is no way the engine will fit over the frame mounts if they are bolted to the frame. I encountered that when I installed the 460 in my 68 way back in 75.
Trust me I had 3 460s in and out of my 68 over the years with manual and automatics. Just have the 2 cross bolts loose so that you will be able to get the frame mounts to fit under the fender aprons.
