Put a new Adrenaline HPOP in from Dieselsite. Now it starts hard (lots of cranking). Using Torque Pro, I can see the ICP come up after a couple seconds of cranking and then the truck fires. Idles, drives, runs great. I can see IPR duty cycle go up and down, ICP go up and down. All seems to be working fine, except for hard (long) start. ICP sensor is still the "old" style you need a crows foot to get out. ICP sensor connector dry (no oil getting in plug). Tried "burping" the ICP sensor a couple of times, got oil rail as full as it will allow (runs out when full). No difference in start.
When truck is warm, it starts quicker, but still not as quick as I thought the old pump did.
If the ICP sensor was bad, would I see ICP on Torque Pro still? Thoughts?
I lean towards a bad ICP sensor, but seems like that wouldnt be it if I am getting pressure readings on Torque Pro.
This is a late 1997 (November) that has an updated wiring harness on it (some kind of recall?).
How many miles ago did you change the pump? Its super hard to get all the air out. I know every time I mess with the high pressure oil system I think I broke something because how long it really takes to purge the air. Best way I have found to get the air out is pulling a steep hill several times. Long hard starts are very common after HPOP/injector work. When I put my adrenaline in I had the same issues. When I changed my injectors, same thing. Smoke, hard starts, some stumbling especially at WOT. All went away after a few hard pulls and 100 miles. You will never purge the air idling.
Hi! Less than 100 miles since HPOP. And I have r&r'd the ICP a couple times (introducing more air???). Will try some hard pulls. Don't have a convenient heavy trailer to hook up unless I hook up the 5th wheel (heavy, not convenient).
Will try this and maybe just give it some more time...
