Correct but deleting your FordPass account on the Ford website followed by a Sync master reset will stop it. It was even in the disclaimer when I was asked if I was sure I wanted to delete my account. "In order to stop data sharing, you must perform a master reset of the Sync system in your vehicle " Something like those words. Once everything was done the 2 arrow data share icon next to the emergency icon was gone.
Essentially it's the same procedure used to clear the system when you sell the vehicle. And it obviously worked because my Nationwide rep called and asked if I still had the truck. Then said I should consider re-installing it before my rates go up. That is why I have Farm Bureau now.
Thanks. This is the kind of information that people need to know.
I can’t say I used all the features all of the time, but the lighting control from the app was useful… and going into camping season, I’m really not happy they took it away. Hopefully they’re about to migrate those features over as well.
I appreciate the pointer about where the vehicle info got hidden away. It looks nice now that I know where it’s at.
As far as the insurance, I’ve got a relatively small company that’s been good to me. I don’t think they’re able to gather the info from Ford as of yet. It’s probably only a matter of time. I suppose the only other real question would be in the case of an accident with another driver, where their insurer may have the hooks with Ford. Would they be able to pull our data, or is it only for their insured driver. Something to look into.
I'm sure this is due to the Ford - Google relationship that will use Android and Google apps as they transition from Sync as we know it. They did say it will be used in the EVs first, so that explains why the changes are mainly benefiting the EVs with this new FordPass. Hopefully that will spread to the full lineup as they improve tech.
I noticed the update last night. Thanks to this thread I see that most features are just moved/reorganized. Same for the watch app. I also had to agree to a Google terms and policy when using the location feature. I’m not sure what my thoughts are on it. I often use the app to unlock the truck when walking up to it. I do like that it’s just a click rather than a hold, but that was also a nice safety feature to prevent accidental locks/unlocks too. Also, I stopped uploading the service history in it a couple years ago and just keep it all on a Google Doc spread sheet. Anyway, this also makes me wonder if eventually some features may turn into pay to use features…
I gave Ford a call today and spoke with the Fordpass department. Of course, they're aware of the features that were removed. They said they've got stability issues with the current version of the app they need to solve first, but after, they plan to begin adding the features back into the app. There's no ETA, but she speculated it could be a couple months. It sounds like features were removed from a lot of vehicles and they're working to achieve parity with the old app. That is to say, other vehicles may have priority and they'll get here eventually. Hopefully it won't take too long. The features may be re-added one by one, she said, versus a big update with everything re-added at once.
I mean, crowdstrikes entire business is making updates to their detection software, so they’re in a catch-22 there. There’s no excuse for their lack of QA though.
As for Ford, I wish they would have left the old app as an option until the new one was fully baked. But I understand that supporting two apps diverts effort away from the new app, making it take longer. I understand the decision they’re going with. It is what it is. I was just glad to learn they haven’t just abandoned the features. At least, that’s what they’re saying so far, anyway.
I think an update screwed the app up. I'm in Canada and the Fordpass app must think I'm in the UK since it's giving me "tyre" pressure instead of tire pressure. The fuel remaining also seems to be broken as it's now in percent remaining instead of distance and it says I have 100% left after an hour on the highway.
Noticed my app updated with my phone overnight..... Doesn't show the truck locked or unlocked now, still nothing I have found with lighting like the first version I had of the app when I bought the truck in April. Fuel shows % full and distance to empty but like the previous post it is not accurate because I haven't filled up in a couple days and have 3/4 tank according to the gauge in the truck.
