wiper arm removal

Hi all, I'm back for more advice, This time I'd like to know how I get the wiper arm removed off of the splined shaft, a pic or two would help!

I noticed there's a small 'tab. on the base of the arm, it looks like it needs to be eased forward ( or backwards!) to release the arm from the splined shaft.

Thanks in advance.

No pictures at this time but yes you need to get a small flat head screw driver in there and pry that tab outwards. Then hold the wiper away from window and rock the base back and forth to remove it from the knurled post. Hope this makes sense to you. Doug.

Thank you Muppy, it sounds like I was on the right track.

There is a tool made specifically for this job. Here is a link to the NPD website for it. It makes the job about 20 times easier and you don't end up chipping the paint trying to do it with a screw driver.

Thanks Rick, I'll be looking at getting one of these, do you know if they come with instructions - or do I just have to figure it out?

No instructions. It is pretty straight forward. The tab goes in the notch and the handle goes over the wiper arm. Grab the handle and the wiper arm and rock them back and forward and it comes right off.
