There are known issues with sync 3.4.22251 where the partition that “user” files and log files are stored, apparently the log files pile up until the partition is full then the sync has no room to store saved settings and phone books from connected phones. The first tell tale is sync forgetting basic saved setting, then it gets worse from there on out. Updating to the newest sync fixes a lot of those issues.

Thanks for the info! That scenario could very well explain why the onset of the issue for me was so sudden and unexpected (partition getting full over time).

Yeah, they rolled out a nav update May 20th. That's how I discovered they want $ this time. All previous nav updates had been free to download up until this point. Looks like updates are only free for the first 5 years of in service.
