2016 Super Duty factory trlr brake controller install
I need a trailer brake controller for my 2016 Super Duty- its pretty bare bones as in no computer screen or brake controller but does have a factory wired trlr plug and hitch. It looks like the factory controllers are blind (?) i.e. dont read out an adjustment on the local display. Does anyone know if the message display on the dash would show the settings when and adjustment is made to the controller/ It seems to recognize when a trailer is plugged in?
also I removed a couple of dash panel cubbies and found a plug connected to the back of one... I am thinking that is just a nice place to stow the controller plug for future install?
My 2016 Super Duty is an XL with pretty much no options. It's as bare bones as I've seen them.
What you are describing is exactly what mine looked like. I bought a factory controller and plugged it in where the cubby hole was. It snaps right in place. I turned it on in the computer using Forscan and it works fine. The dash display with the odometer shows TRAILER CONNECTED when I plug the trailer in, and if I select that output it shows the controller output when braking.
