2024 F150 Trailer Brake Controller Module

Has anyone added a trailer brake controller and module to their 2024 F150 yet? My truck came with the tow hitch and 4/7 pin connector, but it did not have a trailer brake controller. So I bought the parts from LevittownFordParts. ML3Z-19H332-AB 1X was the part number. I swapped the module and installed the plug and play brake controller gain switch. Took a couple minutes. Then I went into Forscan and enabled the trailer brake controller module. After writing this change, the dashboard display flashed with an error, although while it was doing that it did recognize the controller as I squeezed the gain slider and it said no trailer connected. Although it continued flashing the error. I tried a couple other trailer brake related IPC module changes and toggled them to enabled. Nothing seemed to make the trucks trailer brake module function properly. Anyone have any knowledge or have successfully added this yet to a 2024 F150?

Can anyone with a 2024 Ford F150 that has a factory trailer brake controller and module confirm the part number on the module that is located down by the brake pedal? Unfortunately, to see the model number sticker you may have to remove the two 10 millimeter screws and the two wiring harnesses. It takes less than two minutes however and would be greatly appreciated. My truck had on already there with part RL3T-19J295-FB. However, it did not have the trailer brake controller gain slider switch which I just added.

Please try the following.

Plugin the original module. You can leave the new one screwed in.
Launch Forscan, go into the TRM (as built) and save all for your TRM backup. Exit Forscan.
Reconnect the new module
Launch Forscan, go into the TRM (as built) and load and write your backup of the original module to the new.
Clear and reload DTC errors
Go into the TRM and enable the brake controller option and write it.
Go into IPC and enable (trailer brake, trailer brake controller and trailer brake gains). Write it.
It should now work without the DTC errors.

Thank you so much for looking into that for me and giving me this breakdown. I’ll give that a try just as soon as I can and report back.

I ended up taking it to the dealer. They tried it. Same result. There were no IPC updates. They end up saying there was a TSB issued for the 2024 trailer brake module. They ordered a new module for it that should be in stock in a few weeks.

Same issues here with 2024 F150, took vehicle to dealer & purchased the controller Ford had listed, tech went to install module & slide controller & programmer stated REINSTALL ORIGINAL TRM & CONFIQUIRE PER 24-2117. It also listed the correct part number per certain build codes. There was an ETA shipment of 5/17/2024, the first ETA was back in April. I don't know what the part number is but was told the last 6 digits were 19H332-A, I could not locate this number for the proper controller. Still waiting.

The only update I have to date is that Ford has ordered the “correct” part and it should be in 5/24/2024 or thereafter. It’s backordered. There was a TSB issue on this. Once they get the part in they will install it for me at the dealership. The part is $359.10. Total with installation it will be $544.10. They did not provide me with a part number. For now I have the OEM module back in place and the coin holder back in where the slider goes. I do have a left turn signal rapid blink occurring now after they’ve did the IPC update. But that should go away once they put the correct module in. I check the signal lamps and they are all working. Not sure what the signal fault is all about. Not a big deal at this point.

Here is the link to TSB 24-2117

MC-10254172-0001.pdf (nhtsa.gov)

In short it says if you have C2BAW (wiring for the 7/4 pin plugs) or FDDAA you may have issues. It then goes on to say Trailer brake controller kit ML3Z-19H332-AB does not include the correct TRM for 2024 F150 vehicles, and this kit should not be installed on 2024 F-150.

The correct module is RL3Z-19H332-A per TSB

Labor is on par at 180.00.

Part is little high, but is that for the switch and module? If so, I don't think Ford has the kit yet and you are paying individual for each.

Are you sending back the kit ML3Z-19H332-AB to LevittownFordParts?

When they get the part in it should only take a about 15 to 30. The new module is blank so they will program your vin to it.

Yes, I sent the part back to LevittownFordParts for refund. I put the factory blank module back in and also the change holder. I waiting for the part to be delivered to my local Ford dealership. She said May 24th. I still have the left turn signal rapid blink, but I’m hoping that goes away with the installation of the correct module and slider.

Forgot the part number I was TOO excited in getting the brake controller to work, this was for my build, others may be different, parts guy & mechanic was a bit confused because of different builds for 2024.
FORL3Z-19H332-A
Hope this might help for some new 2024 F-150XL 4x4 owners

WTF!!! My trailer brake controller works GREAT, but when I have the trailer hooked to the truck & backing up with the door open this dam truck automatically forces the shift lever into park, you all have seen the movie Christen about the haunted 50's Chrsyler car well this is the newer version of Florine the F150! Ford has made these outside rear view mirrors smaller, so NOW I have to open the driver's door to see better while backing down in to my driveway, one solution I might try is to disconnect the trailer while backing up. Also the 12v cigarette lighter plugs that are mounted in the front & rear of the cab ONLY work when the vehicle is running. What has the engineers @ FORD done to a great vehicle, my previous one was a 2020 I should have never traded it in but mileage was a factor, guess I will have to adapt to these new changes. I have many more complaints with this "2024 Smart" edition but will direct them to Ford.
