Looking for a part listing for the front hub assembly for an e99 4x4 manual hub. Every part I find either says after 3/22/1999 or doesn't mention it at all.
Thanks
A little more searching, and I found a thread about switching from e99 hubs to the later ones. @Boss 300 stated that the late 99 hubs can be installed as long as you also use late 99 rotors, but you can keep the same calipers and pads. Just like to verify if this is true, and if there's any minor hardware changes that might go with it. The late hubs have a fitting for an ABS, but I imagine that can be plugged?
Are you referring to the hub unit bearing or just the 4x4 lockout hub? I wasn't aware the lockout hubs were different if that's what your referring to.
Hut yes you can use 4 wheels abs unit bearing no problem. There actually cheaper and I ran them on my truck which just had rear abs. Just cut the wires at the sensor and never have a issue. Or you could buy some of the grease adapters people sell for greasing bearings in the sensor holes and just leave them installed.
I'm referring to the part that lets the wheel go roundy roundy without making crunchy noises. And yes, that's the extent of my 4x4 knowledge. I'm under the assumption that these are sealed hub / bearing assemblies, and since the right front started making very loud crunchy noise earlier today at anything over a walking pace, I'm assuming it's a bearing eating itself. To my knowledge everything is original at 270k, so if it's easier I'll just go to late 99 hubs and rotors.
Rockauto. Completely forgot about them, and I have about 20 of their magnetic cards all over my toolboxes. Thanks.
Still might go with newer ones along with rotors if it's cheaper.
Yes you can swap late model bearings and rotor on to an E99. You will likely need lug nuts to match the fine thread studs.
That didn't start until later. L99 and 00 hubs were still coarse. Most the hubs have option of coarse or fine thread when looking through them. Just get whichever thread you need.

I know when I made the swap the only option was fine thread studs. It appears though Rockauto offers both for most of the top brands now.

May have been looking them up for a 02/03 truck which probably only lists fine thread most place since that's what they came with. Don't remember exact year they made the change. But I believe it was 02ish.

It's near impossible to nail that date down. To much conflicting info on the Googleverse to be sure. I ended up going with Kryptonite bearings and ball joints because of their warranty, so that may have had a little to do with it also.
I'd ditch the early and use late model. Early is just going to get rarer and more expensive. And put a note in the glove box for the benefit of any subsequent owner.
So I went with original e99 hubs, as I had replaced my rotors when I bought the truck years ago and they're still good. But after puling things apart and getting a better look, I saw this and I think I'm gonna need more parts. Again, I know nothing about this thing, first 4x4 ever. So I don't what this stuff is called and while there are nice pictures on Rockauto, I'm not exactly sure what is what.
The front axle is labeled F81A-3002-CJ (Dana 50?), with 3.73 gears. I need the bearing and seals for the outer ends of the axle shaft, both outboard and inboard of the U-joint.
and here are the pictures. Something tells me this doesn't belong here ...
What the the needle bearings in the backside of the old hubs look like? If they're dry and toasted the you'll likely need to replace the axle stub shafts.
