Any of you guys having any issues installing new windshield. A shop after doing body work and paint are having issues installing the windshield. Tried three now and all are too big, having to have a glass shop cut one to fit. Not sure of the brand/ manufacturer of the glass the shop is trying to fit.
Unless you had serious damage or they did something stupid your glass isn't the problem, the gasket is. precision brand isn't perfect, but it fits best. RTRW might be ok, can't say for sure. I've thrown other brands away because they wouldn't work.
Pretty sure gasket rubber came from LMC. Moulding is the narrow chrome plastic trim insert. Concerned that some body trim around glass was altered while doing body repair and is throwing the whole thing off. I remember that all glass should be the same size, but that mouldings options are multiple. Wish the old windshield was still around to take measurements to compare to the new glass. Very puzzling.
Might check the brand of the gasket, LMC is just a vendor. the style you're talking about is the later manufacture lock strip type gasket.
Do you have a good glass guy that knows these older rigs? it has to be roped in, and the repop gaskets make it a chore , most of the younger guys don't know how to do it.
If your windshield opening is the problem all bets are off. maybe someone with a windshield out can give you some measurements.

2022, between my body shop, a pro glass shop, and myself, we destroyed 3 of those seals with my '77's OEM windshield, all three used the same narrow mylar lockstrip, and my new mylar was showing the strain so I decided to let it go. Same failure on all three, was the last corner where it would tear through. They each tore at the thinnest area, in the last corner attempted. After three, we ordered a new solid, no trim, black seal through the glass shop, it was Precision and It fit and looks great. The narrow chrome with stainless corners looked good too, was original, but I was frustrated by then and knew the mylar would turn white in time, so away it went.
