I mentioned this in my other thread about the replacement steering wheel. I noticed this annoying noise a few years ago. It was here prior to steering wheel being replaced. I showed the service manager when i dropped it off the last time. It was never addressed by the dealership. I didnt make an issue out of it because at this point i know there's no one there that would ever figure it out.
Has anyone ever heard anything like this or have any.ideas of what might be causing this noise?
My '17, w/62k miles, has made this noise since new...maybe not as noticeably/loud as this. I only hear it when making low speed maneuvers like while parking/slow tight turns in a parking lot. It doesn't do it at speed...never felt a need to address it.

Please send us a private message with more information regarding this situation with your Transit, including your VIN. I would like to look into a few things on my end for you.
My 2019 started making that noise within this past year, so for 4 years it was silent. It only starts after driving for several miles, then I notice it while doing low speed maneuvers. I haven't taken it in because it doesn't seem like a serious issue, more of a minor nuisance.
I've read in other threads of the clock spring causing a sound, but I haven't heard any audio to compare. If you do get it resolved please post up. You got a new steering wheel and the noise remained?

Mine too, exactly as you described...always has and always will.

The service manager mentioned clock spring. Honestly, im not sure wtf they did to my truck. The steering wheel was replaced but they couldnt program it back in. And YES, the noise is still there. Video was made this morning.
My ‘22 makes the same noise. Only noticeable sometimes crawling around a parking lot. Just started making the noise last couple of months from what I remember.
Interestingly my 2023 Kia Forte also makes that steering wheel sound. I took it in and they replaced a plastic worm gear but the sound was exactly the same and has never gone away. Seems to be louder the colder the temperature outside. I wonder if there is a universal steering system thing that is causing these sounds in multiple vehicles.
Just an update..... preliminary diagnosis is sterring shaft and bushings. The service manager did mention "lubing some bushings" but i said that wasnt acceptable. So the plan is shaft/rod and bushings.

my f450 is getting a entire new steering shaft. Part finally arrived and will be installed Monday. Two weeks now! Hopefully that fixes the terrible gas pedal vibration, feels like the pedal assembly or front end is gonna fall off!
My 21 did this, but not as loud as the video and did it only when turning left at slow speed. I complained and the dealer lubricated something in the shaft and I believe they said it was a seal. So the noise went away for a few weeks and eventually came back.
For those who have had this same issue, and have had something "lubricated' to "fix" it, do you knkw where or what parts were lubed? Took my truck in again and it was making the noise. Showed the video, the servixe manager said it was somewhat common and a quick lube would fix it. I declined the lube and wanted it FIXED. He tells me today they cant fix it because its not making the noise. Im about to lose my mind. I want to know what to look for in regards to that half-a$$ed repair.
Incredibly long story short 🙄........ steeriing gear box replaced. Noise is gone, and my steering actually feels way better. I never mentioned how loose my steering felt. Was told ny dealer it was because i had "them big wheels". So relieved this is finally over and done. I still have an occassional 'rubbing' behind the steering wheel but ill deal with that myself. That developed during the 2 months they spent trying to reprogram the new steering wheel.
Thanks again for the help, suggestions, and listen to me whine 😁😁
