So I have a 2017 F250 Platinum and recently my steering wheel has started making a very faint noise when I turn. It's not the noise that occurs when your fully turned over and it sounds like squirrels in there, I know to back off if I hear that. This is more of very quiet whine under normal turns.
Anyone have this issue before? Steering feels normal other than that. I do have a 4 inch lift and have dual steering stabilizers so that could be masking something. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
I had a faint noise from my steering wheel. Dealer chased it for a while around 45K miles and replaced my clockspring after I told the service advisor not to replace the clock spring because it wasn’t coming from there. Noise persisted. Faint squeak here and there with a little groan. A few weeks back I complained of some “loose”ness in my front end over small bumps and while turning at 15-45mph. They replaced the intermediate shaft due to a worn bearing at 66,400K. I haven’t heard the noise since then. I never felt anything different. Just noise.
I see from your profiles you are both in hot climates. I've been in Phoenix area for past several months and my
steering just started making a faint noise when turning also.
This may not help the thread, but my parents years ago bought a Saturn Vue and it developed a persistent noise in the steering. The culprit turned out to be a wire had come loose in the column and was rubbing on the shaft as it turned.
My 19 will randomly make some sort of rubbing noise coming out of my garage and turning sharp. I have noticed it on my wife's 18 as well. Ive been thinking about pulling the airbag out of mine and taking a look. Makes sick to think about the dealer wrenching on my truck, it's never a good experience.
