7.3 Swap

7.3 Swap
To start, I have a 1995 7.3l F350 XL Single Cab 2WD Dually and a 1996 Gas F250 Extended XLT 4WD Auto on singles, the 95 is a manual and falling apart so I'm thinking of transplanting the 7.3+transmission into the extended cab which is in better condition body wise, hooking up the T-case and putting the dually springs and axle on. What would entail this project other than swapping the column, addition of the clutch pedal+shifter and the cluster. would the ecu need to be swapped? does the T-case fit on the 7.3? what additional wiring would I have to add? fuel lines? is the frame consisting between the 250 and 350? etc.
Thanks for the help!

The biggest problem will be the transmissions, as the manual transmission while a 4X2, will not let the transfer case bolt up, and the gasser auto tranny will not bolt up to the 7.3. You will need a 4X4 diesel ZF5 or auto tranny. Other wise, it would be fairly straight forward, as you have both trucks to swap all parts.

[QUOTE=1995/7.3;21219474]Or do you think I'd be easier to swap the cab, dependednt upon frame sizes?[/Q This would not be a bolt on option, as the frame length are different. You would have to move the cab mounts to match the extended cab, and remove the truck box and replace with a flatbed or cut and shorten the truck box.

dunno, but that 7.3 powertrain is pretty good, it's just the body on it is pretty bad. And I'd prefer a 7.3 over the Gasser as a dedicated work truck. The Gasser has the better package and an extended cab.
