I know, that's why I posted it. Same argument that neither side can win, I just thought it might be nice for us "non-believers" to be on the easy to defend side for once.
Actually, I already had a nice Thanksgiving. It's the second weekend in October up here.
I'll never complain about another day of football though.
I hope you and your family have a good Thanksgiving too fisher.
No. The person most qualified to answer this question and seek the truth of the matter is ---- you. If you really think about it, the _only_ person qualified and responsible to do so is you.
The other reason this is a bad idea is because I think you've already made up your mind. You already decided on a specific outcome which suits you and anything that can possibly be said will be met with argumentative statements. The tone of your inquiry suggests you've already judged and convicted the opposing arguments of being false. Why would anyone present them to a biased jury, it is fruitless?
What you are really asking is someone to persuade you - why would want anyone to do that? If you want to choose fiction over fact - do so, no problem. But I think deep down, you feel insecure about your belief system and need reinforcement for it. If you so certain about your beliefs, why do you need furtrher proof? Could it be that you are not absolutely sure?
The forum is a poor medium of education as it appears that's what you seek. If you are serious about self-education, there are lots of things you can do, some of which are expensive, others are not but all very time consuming and downright difficult. You can try:
Books. The old fashined way which still works and is cost-effective.
College/university
Talk to wise people
Etcetera.
None of the above is very cheap or easy or takes little time. Seek and you will find, knock and the door shall open. (The converse is also true)
The point of the post, as it's obviously unclear, is not that I'm asking you to prove to me that God exists. It was rhetorical question in response to the 20 some pages the other thread has produced. IT CAN'T BE PROVEN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, I only meant this post in jest.
No offense guys, but if I was to go looking for God, I wouldn't start in the Pig Pen.
Like Carpe said, my mind is 99% closed, just like everyone else's on this board. I've done my looking and come to my conclusions. Some debate on FTE isn't going to change it, it's not going to change anyone's mind.
I'm not here to debate this, but I think that the answer "only you can prove to yourself that God exists" is a total copout.
