Trans mount
I finally got my transmission in last night. I went to connect it to the crossmember but found out the transmission mount is missing. I have the 351W connected to a C6.
Well I ordered one from Advance Auto because OEM is unavailable. Going to pick it up at lunch.
Here's my question - Is that all I need plus the hardware?
I ask because I saw in the Haynes/Clymer manual somewhere it mentioned insulators. Do I need those too?
Thank you - Thomas
Other wise I dont know what they are talking of?
The cross member bolts to the frame with nuts & bolts.
The rubber mount bolted to the cross member and transmission using nut & bolt type hardware.
Now our cross member also has brackets from the CM to the top of the frame rail.
They also used nuts & bolts to bolt it in.
Cant see them being called insulators?

The trans mount I picked up from the store tonight worked perfectly. Everything is mounted up!!! I had to loosen up the engine mounts to get the holes to line up between the bottom of the trans and the trans mount. Wiggled the whole deal around a little bit. (Totally killing the arthritis in my neck, etc.)
Tomorrow I will bolt up the transfer case and put the drive shafts back on. Unless you can think of a reason I should not put the drive shafts back on until I finish the top end of the engine and fire it up. I shouldn't have to move it until then.
By the way - should I put any kind of washer on the six bolts that connect the transfer case to the trans?
Thank you - Thomas
Heck people pull heads etc and never touch the under side as there is no need to.
As for the washers good question?
I would think lock washers might be good just make sure the bolt threads thread in deep enough and also dont bottom out in the holes.
The other thing do the bolts go into where oil might leak out?
If so a sealer on the bolts may be needed or you can get seepage and drips.
