My F250 with the 460 gets about 12mpg average. IT depends what tranny you have. A autmotatic is going to eat more fuel than a manual. I have a 5 speed.
I get around 13 on the highway and 11-12 in town. My best numbers are 14.5 once and the worst was on sunday when I got 5.2 this was weighing in at almost 25,000 lbs though.
12 seems like a good average. you can boost that with a set of roller rocker fulcrums (not roller rockers) from crane. about $160.00 for a set. and a 1968-71 timing chain set. each are good fro about a 1 mpg increase.
I have had three 1997 F-350s but all with powerstrokes.
