If you ordered a spare tire where was it mounter??
My truck was ordered with a spare tire and an in-bed spare tire mount.
It was located in the front left side.
Did they mount them anywhere else??
I'd love a picture of the factory spare mounted in the bed.
Behind the driver/drivers side. About the least blind spot maker.
Nice one, but it in the passenger side rear corner of the bed and makes a blind spot.
thanks Rich
I found a NOS in bed spare tire carrier in Australia when I found out mine came that way.
They wanted $400 and I didn't want one that bad.
I think I bought mine from LMC.
What about under the bed??
Are they hard to find??
No they are not, but FYI there are 2 different styles, a fixed length one, and or one that the end handle slides out (extends) for easier lowering. Think in the terms of leverage. Also one from a (64-72) and even 80's ish and up (still old school without the crane cable set up), can work. The 80's one has a piece of tube on the end of the bracket to stick the tire iron in, to again get some lifting leverage when lowering the tire. The sort of hard thing to find is the hdwr. But you can use all thread and some lock nuts for the fixed end.
This one has the end to stick the tire iron in to make lifting it up to un engage the washer and key like slot/groove on the looped end. You do not have to totally unthread the looped hdwr, you just loosen a bit, then lift the tire and bracket up, and push the looped end bar over just a bit so the washer fits thru the circle. Make sense? HARD to do with out the tire iron in there. Hard to do laying on your back and using both arms to lift the tire and bracket and use your foot to move the looped rod...just a bit.
If Rubiranch doesn't take it, I'd sure be interested in buying.
I'm good with what I have so go for it.
I bought an in bed spare tire mount from LMC and I bought another matching wheel and tire.
I want to do a 5-tire tire rotation and don't want to have to remove and put back one of these wheels and tires if its mounted under the bed.
What a pain in the *** even if it is only every 5000 miles.
