....I knew we were missing the part that says, and you too can have this for just 3 payments of $19.99. By the way, none of that has anything to do with Ford or it's buyers not caring about MPG's.

The 6.7 diesel MIGHT get 15 city and 21 hwy. The 7.3 no way..... If you want fuel economy you bought the wrong engine.

Yep - you're right, but these are unloaded MPG's with the 6.7L non-high output; I can get high teens in-town (unloaded) and low 20's on the highway (again, unloaded).
OP needs a diesel to hit those numbers.

Yup. But if MPG's is a concern to the OP, that means money is most likely a concern. The added cost of a diesel, added maintenance costs, and added fuel costs, means even if the gasser gets worse mileage, it's still cheaper to operate.

Now, if the OP is just wondering why his truck isn't getting what the salesman said it would...well...welcome to the world of low life lying scumbags....also known as dealership employees.

hmmm, ok thanks for the info. I didn't just take their word about the mpg. I did some research and saw that it was getting closer to 15, not under 10. It is what it is. It's brand new, stock tires, it has the 10 speed tourqshift and 4.30 electronic locking axle and I'm very easy on the gas. I had a 2004 f-350 with over sized tires, a heavy front bumper with a winch, added springs and I was getting 12 mpg. I guess I figured too, 20+ years later it would be a little more fuel efficient.

Where did you research to find 15 MPG in the city? I could see that being an average combined (city/hwy), maybe.

Your salesman was quoting the mileage for the 6.7L diesel engines.
My 23 6.7L HO F350 Long bed. Gets those number. Pretty consistently 20 mpg empty freeway and 15-16 mpg city, and 11.5 mpg towing my 13,000 lbs horse trailer.
So either he just forgot what engine you were looking at. Assumed all Long beds got the same mileage, Lied or you heard his quote diesel mileage when you were thinking gas mileage.

My 7.3, 4.30, heavy 34.5” M/T tired, 2” air deflector truck gets 12.5-13.5 mpg small town driving (very little time sitting at lights). It gets 16 mpg @ 65 mph, 15 mpg @ 70 mph. Towing a 4k, 10’ tall travel trailer at 70 mph it gets 8.8 mpg. All at 5k-8k feet elevation.

4.30’s sounds pretty short. You could change the pumpkins to 3.55 or so to reduce RPM’s and probably get better mileage.

My 2022 7.3 Tremor averages around 12.5 mpg city & I do see about 15.5 highway.

The 2002 F250 V10 4:30 AT I had for 9 years got 12 mpg no matter what the conditions were (except towing).

The 2011 F150 3.5 3:73 AT got 17 city, up to 21 highway (if using premium & keeping below 65 mph).

Blasphemy...some will have no part of neutering a 4.30 pulling power machine. If mileage is end goal a Prius and pup tent are in order.
