Good morning, been a minute since I posted last. after almost 20- years the highboy got the highboy back on the road a few months ago and its running great. question about shifting.
1. I need to let off the accellerator slightly before it will shift gears, and depending how fast I'm going it hits a bit hard. Don't know if it has a shift kit or not. Modulator??? I did service the trans and it was very clean.
2. If I shift it manually it shifts smooth.
3. It goes into park but I need to make absolutely certain its in park and I ALWAYS makes certain the parking brake is on. it slipped out of park one time. is there an adjustment for this? worn parts?
Thnx I should have mentioned it. I don't have the kickdown hooked up right now, I put on and edlebrock but I don't think a kick down will make a difference with the normal driving, it will shift I just have to let off the accelerator a little to allpw it to happen.
If it has a Modulator pull the vacuum hose off it at the Modulator and see if there is any ATF there.
If so change it out. I think there is a colored band on it you will need to get the same color one.
Also watch when you pull it as there is a metal pin that may fall out and needs to be reused with the new valve.
Are you sure the ATF level is right?
From sitting the valves in the valve body could be gummed up and seals dried up. May get better with miles?

I have to really push it up into park. One time I didn’t have e brake on. Jumped from outside n it jumped into gear. Bent drivers door forward after hitting my utv. So now I make sure e brake is on
