I couple years ago i installed a 140amp alternator inplace of the 110amp alt. My batteries are 2 yrs old (Motorcraft) and occasionally when its been below 50 degrees outside i see my battery light flickering and my scan gauge shows 11.9-12.5 volts. it seems this continues till the engine gets up to about 120-140 degrees and is back to normal.
would this be a sign of bad battery wires, alt harness, alternator or batteries?
Normally a sign of bad alternator with that light doing the flickering
But you will want to clean inspect cables and have batteries load test
there is a Ford alternator pinpoint test
it was more accurate then having a parts store test the alternator on there machine (kids working have to many pulley options when hooking it up they spin it to fast what then shows good part when it really not good at lower rpm)
someone should be along with the alternator pinpoint test my PC is down at the moment
