I'm not sure I'm naming it right but the little indicator on the dash that tells you whether you're in Part, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, etc. In the continuing saga of getting Dad's truck fixed up some. This isn't a big one but it'd be nice to get it fixed.
Many, many years ago he put a new entire steering column on. The originals joints were giving out and it was falling apart. For some reason, he never reconnected the little cable that connects this indicator to the shifter linkage. I can see where the little loop on the end of the cable goes and can see where I think the little white plastic piece goes. But for the life of me I can't figure out exactly how that little bugger goes in there.
If anyone has a diagram or pictures of how it should look, I'm pretty sure I could duplicate that. Many thanks in advance.
P.S. I already posted this in the Transmission forum and the correct (I think) vehicle forum. "1987 - 1996 F150 & Larger F-Series Trucks."
Mine doesn't look like that. I've attached some pictures below. The white piece doesn't appear to be broken anywhere, that I can tell. There's no rough or uneven edges anyway. In the last pic I put red arrows where I think it has to attach and the little nubben the end of the cable goes over.
Yours is broken. The flat white piece floating on the cable should be attached to the bracket. There should a white "ear" on each side the black adjuster/cog. If you can't find a way to rig it back together, replacements are available. Here is one on Amazon
