Bed Mat

I was at the local Home Depot today and saw a stack of rubber mats on sale. Mats are 42x72 and are about 3/4 inches thick. These are semi-hard rubber, not lightweight foam like so many are...price was $49.

Sounds like a horse trailer mat. There is a stock store near me that sells them in 3/4 and 1", if I remember correctly. I often though it would make a great bed mat.

Our farm store sells them precut or by the foot. I bought some to cut pieces as pads. Very durable, but it'd have to be if it's intended use is for livestock.

I saw mats like this at our Tractor Supply store. I had the same thought. Then I looked at the price. Then I lifted one partially off the pile. They are heavy. I didn't buy one.

What I do use is much lighter and more colorful. My wife was a pre-school teacher. Each school year she would buy interlocking mats in primary colors. I have a pile of the old ones. They are 2'x2'. you can use any combination to cover your bed floor partially or completely. They are easily cut. I have even used them to go up the side of the bed.

The ones I use are similar to this:

If I don't want the color I turn them upside down to see the black side. these I found on Amazon. $26 for 24 sqaure feet, 2'x2'.

I’ve thought about getting one of these. It’s a universal fit bed rug. 66x98 cut to fit. $112. I think it’s foam back so it would protect a nicely painted bed while offering easy removal/storage and keep the bed protected and provide some benefits of holding things from sliding around.

I had a Bed Rug in my Dodge Dakota. It was held in place with Velcro tape. The tape was a bitch to remove. Just sayin.

yeah I hear you good point. I have bed rug in my 2022 with tape of course but in the sides. But this flat one I think you just lay it down cut to fit- no tape or tape optional. As they say they are kinda made for classic type show trucks etc it’s up to you how far you go with install. I’d take mine off and on. These are also lightweight.

I used to take mine out lay it in the drive way and scrub it down. Had it for 5 years and it looked like brand new. I had it for my dogs but I hauled all sorts of stuff, greasy, dirty, rust everything came outta it, no problem.

Good ideas. For ease of storage, I’m thinking a thin pliable rubber mat kinda like the OEM floor mat?

I kept the rubber mat out of one of my old company trucks (back before the teeny 5.5' beds). I trimmed the edges down and dropped it into place.
Perfect (and the price was right)
