OK so I've put a 429 in my 73 shortbed and now I have no oil coming up to valves. Already put new oil pump on. New distributor, intake, carb cvf pulleys and now a little ticking so now I'm pulling oil pan off and gonna check pump and shaft. Anymore suggestion and this is not my only issue either. Many more to come. Thanks in advance.

When not getting oil up top, what was it exactly that told you that?
Oil doesn't go up to valves themselves, it just comes up the pushrods to the rockers in spurts and spills out to the lowest part of the rocker arm onto the valve tips, heads, etc. But before it comes up the pushrods, It has to enter and start pumping up lifters. Lifters have reliefs that pass by oil passage ways as they go up and down, they just get a short shot of oil each pass.
Lifters if emptied or drained, do not pump up immediately either, they just get little shots of oil while on the base of the cam lobe, and after a bit, they have gradually pumped up to take up only the excess clearance in the valve train. Lifters can take minutes to fully pump up and stop ticking at idle.
Was the engine rebuilt by a custom shop, or by you?
If so, did anyone drill a hole through an oil gallery plug to perhaps lubricate the timing chain? That’s an old Chevy trick, and on some Ford engines it does not do good things to some lifters.
Not sure about your engine, but I thought I would bring that up while I was thinking about it.
