1990 F-250 351W EFI
My old valve covers are original and leak pretty bad, the mating surfaces are shot rusted to hell, but the mating surface for the heads are brand new, i installed a long block about 2 years ago.
So I thought this would be fun, buying a nice pair of valve covers off Summit. I can't find an OEM or OE replacement that matches up like my old one, with the crank case breather and oil fill breather being on the correct side, and then all the clearance issues that come with having an upper intake that hangs over the passenger valve cover (nice job there ford).
So does anyone have any recommendations for valve covers that will be a guaranteed fit for the 351W EFI. I'm all stock. No engine modifications, what will fit without hitting the upper intake?
I'd rather not go to the junkyard for this, there all about an hour away from me, and I'm looking for something nice, new, out of the box.
Thanks!
P.S. I tried searching the forum before posting this but I had a hard time finding anything, probably a problem with how I'm using the search engine.
I bought some valve covers off summit, Mr. Gasket 9804 also got a push in type breather for where the old oil fill cap and hose goes, because I don't believe that its removable from the original valve cover, but if it is it probably wont fit these new valve covers. I'll try and keep this thread bookmarked and update how the crankcase ventilation plumbing situation goes, since that'll likely cause me some issues lol.
Yes, you need a fresh air vent for the PCV system. Speed Density trucks have a hose on the oil fill port riser that goes to the airbox.
MAF trucks have the same fill port riser hose, but it goes between the MAF sensor and throttlebody tube.
I have speed density, here is the breather i bought in place of the oil fill neck/breather.

When I do my oil changes I can simply pop this thing out, fill it, and push it back in. I do want to route that hose elsewhere since the connection at the airbox for that hose is broken. Maybe vent to atmosphere? or plumb it to the vacuum tree on the manifold?
And I already have this PCV for the stock passenger valve cover, should be able to pop it into the new valve cover and leave it alone. https://www.stockwiseauto.com/standa...tiFLt2onFc8540

I think you’re a little confused.. The hose is the filtered air source for the PCV system.

Oil fill cap with the (pcv?) hose that connects to the air box. This is a PCV… right? (passenger side, connects to upper intake manifold, has a small filter/valve inside.
are you saying the crankcase pulls in air from these two systems, or the crankcase pushes fumes out through these systems?
