Looking to replace the cab lights on my truck. The chrome is pitted pretty bad and the Amber covers are cracked and let’s moisture in. I thought about doing the LED bulbs. Is there any difference versus the halogen as far as looks with them off or brightness with them on? All of my other exterior lights are halogen, except for the headlights. Want to kind of keep the stock look but Would rather put LED bulbs in there if there’s no visual difference
I favor the 7" sealed beams, in halogen ... and a headlight relay mod.. LEDs easily blind others, and higher up LEDs are only harsher. I am no safer if the others I meet are blinded ... and I hate meeting LEDs. I don't particularly like the LEDs in our newest car (a Forester). I find that at night in that Forester ... road side signs are even irritating with the retroreflections.
Yep, one can call me a "hater" in regards to LED head lights.

yeah, I got you on that. I’m talking about the five cab lights on the roof of the truck.
they make warmer LEDs that mimic the color of incandescent bulbs, but I've never seen that type of thing in automotive use. all automotive LEDs seem to be that harsh bright white and the only cab lights I've seen in LED have been the same. you might be able to tone it down with some yellow paint on the inside of the amber lenses?
Does anyone have a picture with led cab lights off and on? I guess that’s what I am looking for to see if they look any different from the halogen ones
I have a set of some cheap Amazon LEDs on my truck. Been working great for the past 5+ yrs. But, I would love to replace them with some OEM lights. I know it may not be what you're looking for, but it's an option.
I just bought the replacement lights with led bulbs. I’ll take pics of the halogen ones as well as the new led ones once I swap the fixtures out. Doesn’t look like you can tell a difference with the lights off or on. That’s what I was looking for
the 2 lights on the right are led. Looks like crap and it’s a different yellow. You can see the led dots on the bulb. Hard to tell from the pics but it’s night and day
FYI when you install LED's behind a colored lens the bulb needs to be the same color as the lens.
So yellow LED's in the cab roof lights, Red in the tail lights.
If you use white it washes out the color of the lens.

yeah I thought about that, good point! I may see if I can get Amber ones Any idea on the bulb size? It doesn’t say on the bulbs
