So I have a 2020 f150 KR crew cab 4x4, anyway I did a mirror swap from the little mirrors to factory ford tow mirrors. Well here is the problem, now I have a p0073 code and that is for the aat sensor. I guess tha question is, is there a work around for the lack of sensor in the mirror because even for said the mirrors will work. And yes all the functions work on the mirror..... power extend, cameras, power fold etc......any info would be great because those mirrors are like 1900.00 ea from ford.
IIRC, the AAT sensor is in one of the mirrors. I would think you could take the sensor from your old mirror?
Thanks for the reply
the tow mirror does not have a spot for the aat sensor like the new mirrors. The tow mirrors were from my 2016 KR f150......just trying to save some money and see if there is a work around for those not having it from the factory. The way I see it is the mirrors are NOT compatible 2015 to 2020 because of the sensor relocation. Unless there is a work around.
Your 2015 likely didn't HAVE the AAT sensor, but IIRC it was an option on some of them. The issue is that there are so many options in the mirrors today that for all functions to work you have to know what specific options you've got.
That said, if you have a sensor, and the wiring is there (or if you have to run a couple wires and a connector for it), you could put the sensor in the housing behind the mirror and use something (double-sided automotive tape, a zip tie, etc) to fasten it in place securely on the tow mirror. This would eliminate the code, though I don't know how accurate your sensor will be.

Yes it had it but the old location was near the horns in the front of the truck. I took the small mirrors apart and seen where the wires were missing......left side of connector on mirror number 2 and 6.....pulled the sensor sensor need to wait for a nice day and cut a hole in for the sensor and wire up....good to go.....was just looking for an easier ......no less time consuming way to do it.....thanks for the response

Yeah there likely isn't an easier way to do it aside from buying a set of mirrors with all the options you want/need on it, which is prohibitively expensive. The way you're approaching it is probably the most economical and effective. Good luck!
