Does anyone make drop pitman arms for 2wd dents? I’ve got a 2.5” lift, so it was already misaligned, and my new oil pan has very little clearance to the drag link. 1976 f250, camper special, power steering. I’ve seen people talk about 4wd drop pitman arms, those seem to be a lot more common. Any for 2wd?
Sorry I am not a 2wd/prerunner experienced kinda guy, but I dig the look. If I had that issue those are the folks I would talk to. If I got no response from the fine folks here on FTE.
I think prerunners are sweet, but I’m keeping this more of a street truck. Lift was before my time with it (and it looks better than lowered. Usually). Couple pictures for fun
The pitman arm should be the same for 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive
The sector shafts in the gears are the same
Seal kits are the same etc.
The difference was the ram assist on the 4x4s
Looking pretty nice so far, it that a Coyote swap?
…not exactly. I know most you guys don’t like LS swaps, but the ol 360 was tired and not doing too great (reason for the whole swap was my c6 going out though). She’ll be running a whole lot better in a couple weeks here
and for the pitman arm ok I’ll check that out. I have seen people say the locating tabs/splines are different for the 4x4 vs 4x2
They do make 4 dead spline and 3 dead spline sector shafts and corresponding pitman arms
The 4x4 vs 4x2 should still be the same
Look at a 4x4 drop pitman arm on Ebay and compare splines with yours
Many aftermarket pitman arms don’t have a key spline. So you can align it anywhere you want.
And back before anybody made pitman arms for Broncos, the full-size pickup pitman arms had keyed splines in different positions than needed. So I and others have simply taken a triangle file (and maybe a hacksaw for fine tuning) and literally cut our own notches out of the big square keys.
Was actually quite easy and the arms fits perfectly.
