2022 replacement brake pads.

For those that have had experience for placing pads on the newer trucks what has been your go-to when you're replacing the Oe pads? My 22 has 42k on it and the pads have been squealing for a little bit now and I'm tired of listening to them. On my 17 when I replace the pads I went with Wagner's which performed good. But I really did not like that the pads were slightly undersized just something that seemed odd to me. And they weren't super quiet either.

So just curious what others have had experience with and what the positives and negatives of the different brands they went with were. That way I can choose what suits well.

I just started hearing some squeaking on my 22 with 35k. Maybe it’s just dust… it’s not bad and I don’t always hear it. Anyway, I will probably go with the Power Stop brakes when I replace these. Should cut down on brake dust too!

That is about when mine started, when i wash my truck i make sure to get the calapers as well to keep then looking clean. As well just after the wash they make no noise what so ever for a few days. I have heard others say powerstop. Maybe they will be the way to go.

To be clear, I have never used them, but I have seen them recommended quite a bit around here. And of mine keep it up or get worse I may change them out at my 40k mile tire rotation.

Have had horrible experiences with Powerstop in the past on other vehicles. Put a full system (rotors, calipers, and pads) on an suv, and there was so much variance in the pad manufacturing that some pads would fit in the calipers, and some wouldn't. When I finally did get a full set of pads that would fit, they wore out extremely fast, the rotors warped in no time, and stopping power was worse than whatever setup was on there before.

On my pickup trucks, I use Bendix Fleet Metlock, and have never had a problem with them.

I went with oem. I didnt catch my front in time and had to replace the passenger rotor too. I got the “best” rotor from Napa, it actually came in this air tight plastic container.

I've had Powerstop on my F150 for a few years and had a great experience. I only did the pads and rotors but they well outlasted the OEM garbage, and had very little brake dust. The dust I'm getting out of the 24 F250 is a nuisance. I plan to go with the Powerstop setup when the time comes.

the only reason I don't want to go with the OE again is because of the constant squealing. My pads actually don't need to be replaced but it's Non-Stop and annoying as hell.

Well I went ahead and replaced the front brake pads with the Power Stop Z36 pads. As expected, the OE's still had plenty of life left. They had plenty of brake dust caked up all around them too... After installing them I went out and did the break in procedure for the Power Stops... once the other cars on the road caught up with me I still had 2 more 35 to 5 mph brakings left, so I put my hazard lights on and they just went around me. Anyway, the pads stop the truck, and they don't squeak like the OE's were, so I'll see how it goes from here. I figure once these wear down I will just do all new pads and rotors all around, but I'm hoping that's not for a long while...

One of the things that the OEMs often get right is brake pad material. They compromise on so many things, but they consider the tradeoffs and generally make a good offering.
I just changed the rear pads on my 2004 911, and they were still at 1/3 remaining with 70K on the car. Pretty good for how amazing the brakes on that car are.

Powerstop Truck and Tow pads. Put them on my 2021 with about 10K miles. Now at 35K miles, very happy w/ them. Very little brake dust. Good performance. My main reason for getting rid of the stock pads is how bad the brake dust was.

+1 on the Power Stops. I had the rotors and pads on my 2004 Lightning and just the pads on my 2015 F-150. I installed new rotors and pads on my SD at the 50,000 mile mark. They performed as well as OEM and the tiny amount of dust they do make isn't that awful rusty-brown color that shows from a mile away. My brother has been running Akebono on his F-150's for years. He drives for work and puts a ton of miles on his truck. He swears by their pads. Great braking, great life, low dust. It's good to have choices.

Thanks for the info on Akebono, never heard of them before. Think that’s the way I’ll go when time comes. Made in USA and available through tire rack. I’ve got no complaints about stocks except the dust is excessive.
