Hey all
I tried a brake pad search, but didn't really get the answer I was looking for. I am looking to replace front/rear pads on my 2000 F-250 XLT SuperCab 7.3 PSD. I put Napa brake rotors/pads on it a couple years ago and they squeal like a pig. I tried taking them off, applying disk brake quiet a couple different times but the squeal keeps returning...I also cleaned/lubed all the rods and replaced boots on the calipers...Nothing. It doesn't squeak when applying the brakes, just when idiling down the road between 5-20mph. I'm pretty sure the problem lies in the Napa pads... I've heard from a few other guys that they can be noisey. I used Napa's top of the line heavy duty pads/rotors.
I was wondering what pads any of you guys have had good luck with ? I heard good things about EBC ? I pull a 30' Jayco 5th wheel (11,000lbs loaded) a couple times a year and I put the truck up for the winter months.
EBC is good stuff. I used Orileys pads and they were good. Squeek free for a long time until a piece of hardware fell off lol. Just put on Motorcraft brakes today, so we will see how those are.
I've used Hawk LTS pads on my last two along with an Escape. Low dust and minimal noise on Centric rotors on the trucks and Brembo on the SUV. Oh and I pull a 34', 12,000 pound Glendale Titanium 5er several thousand miles a year - and they do stop well, even better then the soft Motorcraft. EBC too, are a good choice and a bit less expensive and may be considered for my truck along with Hawk this summer before an extended trip.

Thanks, guys ! This gives me a few options... I used to always go with Napa for brakes, but the last couple years they have squeaked after a couple thousand miles no matter which vehicle I have put them on. Now I have options !
I replaced oem pads at 100K mi. ..the old pads were about 50% gone...I used superduty pads to replace the originals and at 50K mi. they still look only slightly worn. no doubt that superduty pads will also be my next set....Dave
I have had my eyes on the Power Stop rotor and pad kit. They greatly improved the stoping on my girlfriends Suzuki Grand Vitara and they are comparable price to Motorcraft.
Pads are a trade-off. More money=more miles. Faster stopping=more dust and more rotor wear. I have had about 50 vehicles, always bought cheap pads, never bought or turned a rotor, and never had a problem stopping. Most people only change the pads (easy) once at the most while they still have the truck anyway.
