Hey guys! It's way past time for an update here. I ended up picking up a '78 parts truck a while back. It turned out that both sides of my cab apparently had been smashed and poorly repaired. I knew the passengers side was dented in, but the drivers side was also smashed and was covered with body filler. This truck has the panels I need as well as a number of other parts that I'll use.
Can someone confirm if the rear slider window in the '78 will fit my '76? I'm assuming it should be the same...
Here's the way this sit as of this evening. I've thought more and more about 7.3 diesel swapping this truck, and at this point I'm planning to. Right now I'm focused on body work, but I'm planning to buy a PowerStroke 7.3 chassis to drop this body on top of. So... things could get interesting here eventually...
I am looking for parts. I HATE the thin plastic chrome moulding on the 78-79 Window gaskets and I am looking to convert my 250 to the wide stainless like was on them in the 73-77. I've got the windshiled and rear window moulding and have restored all of it and buffed it out to new condition, but I can not find the wide side window moulding to save my live without buying another truck it seems. I don't mind buying another truck but I'm also not paying 5 stacks for something that honestly has no hope without a major undertaking in sheet metal fabrication and a hand built chassis to save it. (I made that mistake and almost a hundred grand later in time and parts, it;s still not on the road since I'm as picky as I am) We used buy these things for 300 to 500 dollars all day long back in the 90's and 00's and then cash for clunkers got a lot of them and changed that dynamic forever. Any leads?
