Since we're on the topic of oil filters, on my 2022, I really have to tighten down the filter to get a good seal, uncomfortably tight. If I don't tighten it enough (need to use a oil filter wrench) oil leaks past the seal. Not a lot, just a drip on the bottom of the filter and a few drips on the garage floor. I always make sure the old gasket is removed, so it's not a double gasket issue.
Is this related to how much pressure is in the oil system, similar to the upper oil pan leaks?

I wouldn't think it to be related to excessive crank case pressure. You're sure it isn't old oil that has run onto the top of the new filter while changing it? I know you are doing it yourself, but that is a common occurrence with dealership oil changes. They are installing the new filter while oil is still dripping/draining out, and then don't clean it off the top of the filter.

Always check to make sure the old seal gasket is completely removed. I always clean it up and make sure no divots are being introduced at the seating plate. Then I always dip my finger into a bit of oil and place a little line on the new filter. Tighten down by hand. Bring truck to operating temp and she usually seals until the next time. If I get a drip which I have it is usually the fact that the seal on the filter itself is not seated on the filter I can only remember a few of these over the years and it was just a defect I didn’t catch.
It does look like something has hit i... either that or the folks at the shop you had it last changed at squeezed it too hard with a filter wrench... although that wouldn't explain why it was loose. However, this is all the very reason to do them yourself if you are able to and have the time. The oil change on these trucks is quite easy, and it will take you as little or as much time as you want. When removing the filter, of course make sure the O ring comes off with the old seal. Use a little oil to lube the new seal. And when you are done, use some brake clean to clean everything real good for that pristine look. Also, it its not uncommon for old oil to still be dripping when screwing the new filter on. It will collect around the edge and will leak down when driving, however, the brake clean will clean this old oil out. I hand tighten the new filter on, but by the time to remove it I usually have to grab it with a wrench to loosen it. But, at least when I'm all done, I know the correct oil and the correct amount of oil was used, I know a new filter was installed and the old seal was removed, and it cost quite a bit less too.

I prefill the filter before installing it, and I somehow always end up spilling oil into the channel between the top of the housing and the filter gasket. It's nearly impossible to clean it out, especially when the filter's already half full. So my filters end up with oil seeping over the outside of the canister, even though it's not technically leaking.
After oil filter is tightened down, I'll spray some break cleaner around the top to clean out any residual oil. Works great. I saw A Rod do this on Youtube.
I've only used a clean rag to wipe any residue oil on filter or misc spot from oil. Clean as a baby's bottom and I'll never see that area again for another month or so before the next required oil change.

Not sure on diesels, but the 17 up 6.2 has had issues with the oil filter tube (the tube your oil filter screws into, that screws into the oil filter cooler) it works it's way loose. Mine was finger tight and oil was leaking past the seal. Removed the tube, cleaned good, applied blue loctite to the threads on the cooler end and cranked it down with a 14mm allen and it's been good every since.
well oil was changed at dealership and was slowly leaking ti yesterday morning at 6am went to go fishing and smelled oil burning and being a new truck with 15k miles that is not normal. Got underneath to see oil seeping out of filter. Also when I got a new one for it the old one was loose by hand.
I have never been able to take one of my filters off by hand and I do roughly 9+ oil changes a year on my vehicle. All these filters are put on hand tight by me not filter wrenched when installing, only used filter wrench when taking off.
