first poster! complaining about a dented filter, a dent didn't effect how it works, than having been a dealer tech i couldn't count how many i took off looking like that.
i wouldn't call that an filter failure...🤦🏼 either dented from removal or improper installation
well oil was changed at dealership and was slowly leaking ti yesterday morning at 6am went to go fishing and smelled oil burning and being a new truck with 15k miles that is not normal. Got underneath to see oil seeping out of filter. Also when I got a new one for it the old one was loose by hand.

Is it possible that some sort of road debris caused that? I could see something hitting it, which could also cause it to loosen up a little.
These filters are so large and easily accessible that a tool isn't even necessary to fully tighten them. I really hope that a dealership isn't using someone capable of doing this to a new filter, and then would walk away from it.
