I took delivery of my 2024 F-250 Lariat 7.3L on Jan 26th. I installed floor mats, bed rug, tonneau cover, mud flaps, vent visors and tinted the front windows. I drove it 700 of the 1000 "break in" miles (as recommended from the owners manual) then changed the oil, Quaker State 5w-30 synthetic and a Motorcraft filter. I left the Lexington Ky area on March 12th with 722 miles on the odometer, headed to the Arizona southwest. I returned on March 24th, putting 5078 miles on the truck. I used 317 gallons of fuel, averaging 16 hand calculated mpg. The onboard mpg calculator was always off a couple of 10ths. Of the 5078 miles, only about 1600 were interstate miles, the balance were US and state highways (mostly, 2 lane blacktop) The truck ran perfectly.
I reset the TPMS thresholds using Forscan, and ran 50 PSI all around. The ride was very smooth, yet firm. The truck tracked straight and was easy to drive. The seats were as comfortable as any I have ever sat in. The HVAC performed as it was designed to. There was negligible oil consumption. Even though some of the very rural roads were in poor condition, the truck developed NO creaks, squeaks, or rattles. The transmission shifted flawlessly the entire trip, shifts were often not even noticeable. We used the four wheel drive in and around Monument Valley, without any problems, shifting in and out of the drive with the single auto locking hub. The truck is equipped with the camper pkg, which included a rear sway bar. I believed it improved the handling on the twisty roads through Mesa Verde Nat. park. The voice activated, factory navigation, worked perfectly, as well as the Sirius radio station search. In fact, this Super Duty fully met my drivability expectations and exceeded my comfort expectations. NOT a single complaint. I had a 2018 Super Duty, Lariat, PSD that this truck replaced. I had the SAME positive experience with that truck, it just WORKED. (disclaimer: Ford did replace the factory Continental tires with Michelins within a couple of hundred miles of delivery to fix a tire problem - vibration, and the dealer never saw the truck again)
My wish list: a digitat readout of the tachometer - acutal rpm's, or analog speedo and tach like gauges
I'm guessing that there are many tens of thousands of Super Duty owners who have had the same positive owners experience. I have no reason to believe that my 2nd Super Duty won't perform as well as my first. I'm looking forward to driving it a long time.
Awesome, glad to hear your trip was successful and the truck performed as it should! But pics or it didn't happen... jk. I am a sucker for Monument Valley, ended up on the cutting room floor when I went cross country back in 2009 and I am dying to get out there.
Glad to hear. I picked up a 2023 f350 diesel. It tracks terrible on the freeways. Otherwise all is well.
I have 5000 miles on it now.
I have read many about caster settings. That’s my next task.
