with over a thousand pages to search regarding this information request I , sorry, but just started another new thread! I am looking for a intake manifold for a 300 cid 6 out of a 85 f150. I have a stock one but it suck air thru a hole the size of a straw and I understand just headers and a intake will add 70 hp. ( i read that on a thread here)
My question is: do the newer EFI engines have a bigger throat? maybe I can just get a newer 6 cylinder manifold for this older 6 holer and put a aftermarket weber or something on there with headers and be happy? I can get headers but any aftermarket intake seems to be totally out of my budget !
thx, Jim
Im not sure the EFI intake would do you any good. They have long thin runners connected to a big open plenum that is only designed to flow air. Fuel is injected at the port. They are also small ports tuned for low RPM torque. To my knowledge, ford never made a throttle body injected 300, so intakes are very limited. If you're patient, i bet you could find an old Offenhauser intake used at a swap meet or on marketplace for a decent price. Also, you might want to check out the six cylinder forum. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum52/

it seems i'll be looking for a used set up for this 6 cyl. clifford sure has some nice stuff but It costs more than the $400 I spent buying this truck!
right now the issue is just finding engine perches for the 300 cyl. i want to put in there, nothing so far seems to fit and i don't want to resort to welding something in there that just more or less works! evidently putting a 300 into a '78 F-250 isn't so common?
