I believe he's referring to 3-ring pistons with narrower rings, vs the stock 4-ring setup. There are guys on the Ford Barn who have tested the 2 side-by-side and there is some noticeable difference, and it's "free" HP. But you have to have very good cylinder finish, not a backyard hone job.
Kirk, I would say most flat V8 engine rebuilds go right to +.060". 0.125" is for chasing HP or on engines that have sat in water and have deep pits. There is a real risk of overheating with that bore.

The reason I suggested moly rings is because Krik was stating that it .125 is the only size you could start getting them at, and that aligned with what I could find for supply of moly rings, but I'm sure a deeper search could find all sorts of expensive options. If Kirk is simply suggesting 3 ring setup, they are available in the smaller bore ranges as well from companies like Ross. No need to jump to .125 simply to get 3 ring pistons.
