It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Where do you live?

We have a casual car meeting, I call it "Beer and BS night", at a local guy's shop every Tuesday night. In the last three days while driving down the highways I saw one guy driving his Model A pickup from the opposite direction, the next I saw another guy outside his house washing his Model A convertible he just got out of storage and then last night on the way back from running a errand in my daily driver I saw another guy driving his new Corvette in the direct of the Tuesday night meet. It was in the upper 60s so I had to get the F-2 fired up and take it to the Tuesday night meet. I pulled it out of the garage and took it around the block to test the brake to make sure they and everything else worked and then headed off to the car night meet. After the meet I drove to COSTCO to pick my up from work. The truck drove perfectly with no problem and lots of power out of the stock 226. No cruise or A/C, no roomy cab but a bouncy suspension and loud engine and whining tranny and engine smells, it was great!

Sounds great, Bob. People underestimate the smell of an old truck!

The sound also, one of my favorite sounds from my childhood was riding down the street with my dad late at night, half asleep and hearing the flat six whine out, the transmission howling and the thump of the brake and clutch pedals hitting the bumpers under the floor. I have had people tell me to install a V8 and T-5 transmission to make driving the truck easier but there is no way I'm ever going to change that. Never.

I totally understand that. It's like my Dad driving his 48 ¾ ton Chevy pickup. The smell of his truck was a mix of cigar, oil, and chocolate!

Personally I like the sound of the Yblock going through the gears. It reminds me of using it in grandpa's tobacco fields and sitting in the bed watching Grandpa drive from his one farm to his other across the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Me and my 2 cousins were seeing if he wound it out in first and went to third or if he started out in second.
