I’m fixing to put my 19 on the weight loss program. Guy doing the work is doing what he calls the ghost delete, hull out the space ship and basically leave all components attached. EGR will be turned off via tune. Should I and which of the EGR pipes need to be blocked off at a minimum? He says just turn off and drive it. Just looking for 2nd opinions.
You can successfully unplug the egr and leave it on the truck. If down the road if you wanna clean the engine bay up a bit you can remove it and the do the block off plates.
as for the DPF, might be cheaper and less work to get a straight pipe and call it a day

The drawback is if you have to go back to stock (laws are getting tighter all the time) you're screwed because the exhaust components are super pricey.

There are a surprising amount of DPFs and SCR components floating around facebook market place, if they are going the stealth route, buy a used set if possible, gut those and keep the originals. Adds to the cost but cuts down on the variables.

I thought about doing this when I first planned my delete and decided against it. My uncle had a ghost delete like this on his 2015 6.7. All it did was make it harder to work on stuff. Honestly, just remove the DPF and EGR and keep them set aside. Put them in your shed, attic, whatever and keep them whole until it's time to reassemble. It's less work and A LOT less money in the long run if that day ever comes.
