The removal and install of block off plates is the better and more permanent solution but with the ways things are I don't know if you should be concerned about an eventual trade in issue or the EPA police, depending on where you live.
I have heard of just unplugging the EGR and leaving it in place but I have been told that there is issues of it getting clogged. If you would have to plug it back in, for whatever reason, that may be an issue.
I understand the advantage of the full DEF / EGR delete but what is the advantage of just the EGR? More power or fuel economy?
Sorry for the really late reply ssunit1. I would definitely do the dpf delete along with the egr. I have always done a full egr delete with block off plates and coolant re-route. But lately I have read of people just unplugging the egr and calling it good. Basically I was just questioning the best way to go about handling the egr. I have not heard of people plugging them up after having them unplugged but it does sound possible.
