Heater box question

The heater box on my 1973 F100 was missing, along with the AC compressor. I do not intend on putting AC back on it. So can I bolt a non AC box in?

It's possible. The hole in the firewall is rather large for A/C equipped trucks versus just a hole for the blower motor on non A/C trucks so you have to add some sheet metal to close it up. Not sure if the smaller heater box will bolt right in where a larger box was. Probably need to get creative there too. My truck originally had A/C...I removed all the under the hood components as I don't think I'll ever need it here in Western WA.

Yes you can, but there are going to be some control cable and wiring differences to contend with. And that big hole from the evaporator box will need to be patched. I have a pic of the heater only blower motor and mount bolts, tape measured out. I just have to find it.

The hole is about "this" big.

And if you get do one of those heaters, here is how to get your defrost working.

Found them. You know that blue parts cab is just setting there giving up pieces and parts and sheet metal panels that have 390 written on them ect....

Problem solved with some sheet metal patches from my local farm supply store. Looks good enough to make me happy. I can now take my time and work on the cables and ducting over the warmer months
