Not to beat a dead horse here, but I have been shopping around and looking for a new muffler. The pipes on my 04' 5.4 2V are 3 inches in and 3 inches out. I have used glass packs and Flowmasters on previous vehicles. While I liked the volume, I didnt care for the rasp they typically had. So this time around, I wanted to sacrifice volume for tone and started looking towards Magnaflow. My brother had an 05' F150 5.4 3V and I really liked the sound of his truck. I have read a ton of posts, watched videos, and went down a bunch of rabbit holes looking at different options. I *think* I may have it narrowed down to:
Magnaflow #11229 4X19X14
or
Magnaflow #14419 4X4X14
My goal is not to be obnoxiously loud or have a ton of interior drone while at idle or cruising (a little is okay). I also want to keep the nice low tone with out a lot of rasp, but if I get on it I want to hear it. The current stock muffler is around 28". I have seen conflicting reviews stating that the Magnaflows are either too quiet or too loud. Mostly leaning towards too quiet. So I figured I would go with the shortest models. The problem is the reviews are for a muffler that fits all sorts of different applications, and not just my truck. I just dont see how you could go from 28" to 14" and not have a world of difference, but I also dont want to over shoot my target here.
So any experience with those mufflers, or advice would be greatly appreciated. I know that this is VERY subjective and really comes down to your own preferences. Its just hard to get a good bearing on what that is online.
