I was wondering if I could get some feedback. I am interested in swapping out my stock muffler for a Dynomax muffler. I have a 07 F-150 w/5.4. I know there are probably many diff. types, but does any one have one on their truck and if so, how do you like it. I don't want a real loud exhaust. I had one on a Contour 2.5 and have heard them on a Mustang 5.0. I like the deeper sound they give off. Thanks.
Take a look at the Dynomax Ultra-Flo. They have a stainless steel version and an all welded steel version. They have fiberglass packing, which I like and give a good sound IMO. If your keeping the stock exhaust and just replacing the muffler, it will not be too loud for you.
OK, thanks for the info. I want a deep sound, but nothing too much louder than my stock muffler.
Well the Ultra-flo will probably be quite a bit louder than stock. If you want to just deepen up the sound some and not increse the noise much over stock I would recommend a Flowmaster 70 series BB2 muffler. I just put one on my truck.
If it's because they only last a couple years, then he may want something more durable, since he has an 07 and the rest of his exhaust system should last more than 10 years.
Good point Jason about trying different mufflers. If you get one that lasts 10 years, you're stuck with it. And if WhiteTriton puts the muffler on his stock pipe and gets rid of the stock taipipe, running a short pipe out the side, it won't be much work to mount another muffler in a few years.
Check out the Flowtech mufflers. I like this Raptor I recently installed. Not real loud though.
My first one in 2001 lasted 3 Years (Texas) The muffler was $49.00
This one was $69.00, Daily driver rain or shine "No Snow"
I Like Aluminized mufflers so i can try somthing differnt the next time, I went threw 5 mufflers so far in the last 12 Years.
Glasspack, 96 ( Loud)
Flowmaster 40, 1999 (Quiet) Removed did not like
Dynomax turbo 2001 (Deep) 17" Long Muffler Turndown Before Rear Axle
Magnaflow 2004 Side exit (MIld tone)
Dynomax Superturbo 2007 (Deep) Turndown
(302), And with Both Cats
You must do a lot of short trips or be hell on mufflers.
I have a complete steel true dual exhaust with crappy $20 glasspacks on my 74' that is over 7 years old and has been in rain, snow salt and etc here in PA. The exhaust still has life in it.
If it were me though I would put a larger 70 series or 50 series big block muffler on that 07' F-150. Those mufflers are about as long as the stock muffler and he wouldn't have to modify the stock exhaust much to fit it in.
I just put a Dynomax SuperTurbo 2" on the Aerostar 3.0. Pretty nice sound, not too loud, but definitely know it's there when driving. Idles louder. Accel is louder, just cruising under little load and quiet. I'm not sure I like the sound as much as my Raptor, but not bad really. Only problem is the price. Raptor would be $20 for 2", $25 for 2.25". Odd thing is the Dynomax ST was $10 more for the 2" than the larger outlets.
