Superduty help please
So yesterday in town I come out of store, jump in truck, turn key and nothing. A few tries later it finally cranked over and started. Next stop I come out and nothing again. No crank. Ended up crossing the solenoid on the fender to get it started.
Spent all day on it today and got nowhere. Everything else works as it should. I have a parts truck so I swapped various things. Ignition switch checked out, swapped anyways. No change. Clutch safety switch checks out, swapped anyways. No change. Checked all fuse in both boxes. All good. Battery is a good optima. Hooked up battery charger also. No change.
I can manually put power to the small signal terminal on the solenoid on the fender and it will crank and start so that tells me downstream is good. Just put a new starter in a few weeks ago also. I have no voltage at signal wire at solenoid when trying to start. Odd thing I did notice is I'm only getting 5.2v at clutch safety switch. I even bypassed/ jumpered the switch just to see. No change.
I'm at a loss as where or what to do now. Would a bad GEM affect this at all? It's about ready to get a push button start wired in.....lol.

Have someone hold key to start and wiggle the wires. Watch for light. Make sure final connector isn't bad...the one that connects to the solenoid..
Stop replacing parts...Diagnose. You could be making more problems.

I've only swapped parts. Cost me nothing. I gave up and ran a new wire from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid. Works great now.

jumpered it at first then bypassed it completely. No change. Only thing that has made it work was running a new wire from ignition switch to starter solenoid. Afterwards I ran it through the clutch switch for safety. Still no clue on the original wiring issue. My assumption is a broken or half broken wire in the harness somewhere. All appears well, no damage to the harness to be seen.
