Have a 1997 crew cab f350 with the keyless entry. Bought the truck with no door keys or the keyfab . The key I use for the ignation seems too long for the locks if that make sense. Read somwhere about needing to spray some lubicant in the lock and use more forced? Or should I just replace then and if so, is there a differnce between truck with no keyless entry and one with? I plan on getting a keyfab after fixing this. Tried google searching but can't seems to find an answer
Well, your 97 should have the slightly longer 10 cut key
Neither door lock will accept the key?
Maybe someone replaced the ignition lock cylinder? with the wrong one?
Either way the door locks should accept a 10 cut key
Maybe somebody replaced those with the wrong earlier years parts?

Get online and buy some Ford keyfobs.. the same fob was used forever so it won't be hard to find, those can be synced with your truck fairly easily.
On earlier Fords there was a separate slightly different door key... don't know if that was still the case in '97 but it wouldn't surprise me. To get them working you may have to buy new door cylinders with keys.

if no one used the locks for a long time i wouldnt be surprised the key wont work. Lube it with graphite or another lock cylinder lube. You can use a dash of penetrating fluid on your key and shank it a few times, then try turning
Play with the lock nub on the door while trying to turn if it wont turn, and then if it works you need a little compressed air , hold open the slot-cover and dry it out, then you can use a lock lube. silicone gets too gummy in severe low temps but if you use a lock lube it should work. Lock deicer has a mild lubricant effect too and it has that little thing that opens the cover

Just gonna buy new door cylinders thanks again for you help
did you try anything we said? your key you have is most likely a cut of the original key. You could also just buy a key cut to your VIN which any ford dealer can do with proof of ownership. Cheaper probably or at least no labor involved.

You can tell what style lock cylinders it has based on the hole shape, 96-97 has a straight line hole and 95 and older has a lightning bolt looking hole.
