I have an 86 f150/5.0/v8/302 and I have a few questions.I want to add a new exhaust system and I was thinking of something with headers. The main goals are to get it loud, more powerful, dual, and legal. However with everything to choose from I am a bit torn with what I should do.also,I wanted the big differences between glass packs and traditional mufflers which is louder and which is better for performance.Any suggestions?
well the glasspacks to tradtional mufflers comparison is kinda obvious, of course glass packs will perform better-they arent stock and they are more free flowing which equals more horsepower and more noise. headers arent really gonna do much for sound, they are more just performance, its whats behind them that changes sound.
as far as all your catalytic converter questions are concerned-you need them even if you dont have emissions testing, you can thank your federal government for that.
if you find some nice headers, keep your cats on, then put glasspacks you should have reached all your goals. but just because its legal dont mean you wont get any loud exhaust tickets-even if its not really that loud, ive seen it happen plenty.
