1994 FLareside problems
i've got a 1994 flareside with the 5.0 and 4x4 e40d transmission and I've got a few problems. the transmission problem happend way before the engine problem
number 1, random hard shifting, ill be driving for 10-20 mins and then suddenly it'll hard shift, it shifts hard in every gear, pulling over and turning the truck off and on and it'll stop doing it for awhile and it may or may not do it again before the hard shift ill shift to 2nd around 20 mph when it hard shifts i shift to second in 10 mph or lower. no LED's anywhere on the truck and 3rd brake light works. no check engine light
number 2 engine surge. it surges on idle while driving normally and even worse uphill it feels like I've got a lose of power to i have to floor it to just get up a hill. starts up with no issues. also doesn't throw codes or check engine light

That's an oscilloscope. You can buy a cheep one off eBay for $40. You can also use a multimeter to watch the value increase smoothly.
