Ok, I dont know what else to do....I left my Bronco sitting for 2 weeks, before I left I was having problems with the tranny shifty hard into second when the check engine light would come on.....and it would not shift into overdrive....but when i returned yesterday after 2 weeks it ran fine for 1 day.....but now its back to the shift problems and check engine light.....it even stalled out on me while making a turn (which was not the first time I might add) So, I dont get it why does shift when the check engine light is out but shifts hard when it comes on??? oh and the amp light comes on briefly at time? how many amps should the alternator put out anyway? its stock......thanks!
with the e4od trans most ford techs will tell you to change out the MLPS. i also have a hard shift but i dont have the check engine light.if i shift to nuetrol and then back into gear when the hard shifts occur they go away. i need to change my MLPS but just havent found the time to do it yet.
manuel lever position sensor. it is on the trans where the linkage hooks up. it has a plug with i think 6 wires going to it. it and the throttle position sensor send signals to the power train computor and this tells the trans when and how to shift. if it gets a mixed up or bad signal it has no idea what to do and the computer increases line pressure in the trans and makes it shift very hard. this where the e4od stinks because a few hard shifts under major load and you blow the trans.
