In 2022 you could get a 2wd XL 7.3 in the low 40k range if you skipped other options. Today you cannot get a 7.3 without spending about 58-60k depending on cab size even if you don't need 4wd, driver's nannies, and other assortment of mandatory packages.
Whatever their reasoning im glad its something thats not standard equipment and forced upon me in price as well as I now have to spend the time to remove.

And yes the front end fenders rot out quickly if you dont remove the fender liners and actually clean where the sand collects against the fender seems and in the drain pathway near the rocker panel.

if one has the habit to do that for the front, what's his excuse to neglect the rear? Still not a good reason to purposely avoid rear liners. many cars, trucks, and SUVs older than 10 years do just fine with front and rear liners in the snow belt, at some point you have to ask if it's a wheel liner problem, or if it was a cheaply built body problem.

you don't need to justify anything on Ford's behalf, you pay them for a product, not the other way around.

Lets move past the fact that you had to pay for rear liners as an option and wish they were included in the standard equipment in which you'd have just been up charged for anyway...

What purpose do rear liners serve for you? They are just in the way when I clean the sand and road salt from my truck and serve no purpose that benefits my ownership and use of said truck.

“Explaining to strangers on the internet why wheel well liners are useful” wasn’t in my bingo cards for 2024.

Seems like your mind has been made up to not want rear liners, so we will just have to agree to disagree.

I live in South Texas and don’t have to worry about snow or road salt packing up in my fenders. Salt and sand from driving on the beach is easily rinsed out without the liner. Mud, even the black gumbo, isn’t terribly difficult to get out either. I kind of miss the old days though when I could rinse behind the front liners by simply opening the hood. There never was a good way to rinse behind rear liners.

For the price the locking rear is one of the options that's a deal. I use it all the time plowing, hauling, etc and have noticed a huge difference in using it both while in 4x4 as well as 2x. Myother superdutys in the past had the limited slip and did nothing like this locker does. And I wish I had an option for the front. Northern NH has ice below the snow for months. You'll never see dirt until late in the season. Then it's deep mud on the road and most places. Including ones back yard. Don't even think of going on the lawn then. And very uneven ground most places. Love to hit the button to lock it in 2x when the road changes fast. It locks in real fast compared to the 4x4.

NH spring is mud season and can be nasty as heck.

Necessary? maybe not, but it sure is nice to have something at least.
personally, I hate Ford's E-Locker. I've used it a few times and it's frustrating the way it works. Gimme a dang LSD like i had in my RAMs.
I've used 4wd way more than the E-Locker.
