I learned my lesson with my previous truck where a bottle of power service leaked and left a non removable sticky, smelly goo on the floor. A plastic ammo can with a gasketed lid was pretty cheap insurance. The small optilube bottles fit in there well too and I 3D printed a divider to keep them vertical to minimize chance of leaking.

I bought 4 oz glass bottles from Amazon. Motorcraft PM 22a suggests 4 oz per 25 gals of fuel. I am usually close to that when filling. If not, I will adjust accordingly by just using a partial bottle. Works for me.

All jokes aside, that Max Mileage has a super strong smell... I bought a cheap metal ammo can to keep it in...

Thanks to all of you. I enjoy sharing the trade secrets we've all learned over the years. Back when I had my 6.0, I really only used an additive in the colder winter months. I bought a cheap plastic tool box to store the 16oz bottles, a funnel, and a premeasured quantity in a smaller bottle and stored it all in the truck bed. But the instance a bottle started leaking the whole tackle box was about useless. The stickiness and odor made me abandon that idea. I don't mind adding the Hotshot squeeze bottle at home, but I have no interest in toting around bottles once opened. So I'm hoping a few of these little sealed 4oz ponies under the truck seat should fill that niche quite nicely.

And JollyRogr...empty ammo cans should be refilled asap (and not with additive! lol)

I have separate ammo cans for that...

I use the Hot Shots EDT and the Better Diesel FBC (same as Overkills Max Milage stuff). They both stink to me, but the FBC is definitely worse. I keep both of them along with other things in a milk crate in the bed of the truck near the tailgate. They are also both in ziploc bags just in case they spill over. I have a tonneau cover over the bed so this works perfect for me. As for use, they both have the 1oz fill section that allows me to measure the fuel. It works pretty good.

One day I do want a lockable tonneau cover and will do the same... yeah the Better Diesel/Max Mileage stuff stinks.... The K100D does not have a strong smell at all... my family has never complained at all about it or even mentioned it.

I love the squeeze dosing of the Hot Shot Secret, but I know that if left in my truck it would stink the cab up in no time.
I'm no tree hugger but it really eats at me how so many people these days don't consider how their actions affect our environment. A single use container is a waste of resources and adds more pollution to our oceans and landfills. It's just as bad as cases of plastic water bottles and Wal-Mart sacks that cashiers place one or two items in and think it can't handle anymore weight so we use 2 or 3 times as many sacks as necessary. With a little effort, there is a more environmentally friendly option, like those that posted above by reusing old containers.

I use this product mainly for lubricity. I like it because it does have some anti-gel properties to it and I would rather not use 2 different products in summer and winter. I purchase 2 gallons at a time and refill old PM-22 containers that have 5oz. graduations marked on it with a paint marker. I keep two PM-22 bottles behind the rear seat on the drivers side. There is a recessed area there that holds two bottles perfectly so they don't tip over. Only a mild smell in the cab after dosing which goes away in 10-15 minutes, I don't place my bottles in any plastic bags or containers.

All you need is a 20oz. container. I have a 56 gallon fuel tank and usually fill up between 30 and 40 gallons at a time so I dose half this bottle at a time. I'm not concerned if it's slightly overtreated as it does not harm anything but my pocket book.

That is the least messy method I've found.
That is a genius idea, and reduces the amount of plastic added to our environment at the same time. Gold star for you!

Opti-Lube is sold and shipped from Opti-Lube when purchased through Amazon so yeah, the price is not going to be cheaper going through a third party (Amazon). I order 2 gallons directly from Opti-Lube and shipping is free.

Amazon Amazon

This is for a case of 12, but a single bottle can be found for $13. These are refillable versions of the EDT bottle. Buy a gallon jug and refill this one. One ounce for 25 gallons, so I use two shots when below half tank, one for above half. They seal up tight and don't leak. Easily stored under the back seat. The EDT bottles can be refilled, slowly, messily. Wipe them down with alcohol when done refilling and they stay clean.

In an effort to raise my gold star to platinum level I'll add that the plastic water bottle gets refilled multiple times with tap water over the course of a week or two before being relegated to additive duty.

I'll buy my water by the case and drink it guilt free. Can't help garbage companies don't properly recycle materials that can be recycled. Depending on location a deposit is being paid per bottle.

I'm an Opti-lube guy and use their little containers as well. I pre-fill the containers for my typical fill up (say 1/4 tank remaining). Then I either half does or full does. Sometimes I'm a little over other times a little under. Since opti-lube has a "premium dose" I am for that so I'm probably never under the minimum and sometimes I might be giving the truck a super premium dose

As for transport I have a little husky bag with a foam divider in the bed (tethered to one of the hooks), so the additive rides there. If the tonneau cover is off my truck I just put the bag on the floor in the back seat. I'll be honest though, on hot days opening the tailgate I am greeted with the smell of the additive. I would NOT want that in my truck for any extended period of time.

Alright I want in on the "---- Star" program... We do recycle plastic and paper as we have Waste Management out here but not on me if those **** ers don't do what they are supposed to with it. As to the K100 I run, I buy it in 32 oz bottles and refill a Stabil dose bottle for the truck. The next step up from the 32 oz bottles is the 5 gallon bucket.... The Max Mileage I run I buy in 1/2 gallon bottles but may go to the gallon jug next time... that's dosed at 1 oz per 25 gallons... I refill the same 8 oz bottle I think it is that I keep in the metal ammo box...

Where's my star man?
