Question Question about member NumberDummy?????

I searched for NumberDummy who was a retired Ford Parts person from California. If I remember right, I think his name was Bill. I looked on his profile and saw his last posts were in June of 2023. Is he no longer with us? What happened to him? He was so good with parts numbers. I am asking because it looks like he is no longer here to send a message to. Can someone confirm this?

Bill’s pretty good, I talk with him every once in awhile. Not without health concerns, though. He’s had computer issues, but more than that, simply chooses to follow other interests. Says he doesn’t need the grief he caught from some members.

No response on Facebook either.

Perhaps he's following other interests.

That is a damn shame that he was given enough issues to not want to help out here.

Bill is still helping, he’s the gift that keeps on giving, actually.

As Crop Duster has stated many times - and I thank him for the simple tutorial - simply use the Advance Search function, type in the part you’re looking for, then beside it in the other box, type in NumberDummy, and hit Search.

Up will pop all threads he’s typed up on the subject, and there are probably thousands in total. I almost never have to ask questions in the Forum.
Bill’s given extensive info - part numbers, photos , etc. - on nearly every part of these trucks, often even listing the Ford Dealers and NOS parts vendors that had them at the time, and their contact info.

This ought to be a “Sticky” at the top of the Forum , in my opinion.

It is sad to lose the knowledge of these older people like NumberDummy. Most of the knowledge on older vehicles is all with anyone over 65. When they are gone, so goes all of the knowledge they hold. Forums have helped us through the years for any vehicles we ever had. Without these forums we would be at a loss. There are so many people on any forum that are so knowledgeable. We are thankful for these people!

I spoke with The Dummy, Bill, for over an hour and a half yesterday. He’s O.K., a bit down with the passing of a loved one just before the holidays. He finally does have a computer again, given to him by a relative, but it’s only a laptop, inadequate for all his needs. I hope to visit him over the Easter weekend, when I’ve four days off work, and we can run around to some of his favorite part -picking places. We’ll see if he’s up to it. Was great reminiscing about past FTE members, including a certain someone named Julie, TeeHee, and a few old timers now passed away.

As always, Bill schools me every time we talk, on a wide variety of subjects, as he has such encyclopedic knowledge in so many areas. He’s really an old school gentleman, a Renaissance Man if ever there was one. A true “ man’s man” ; irascible and endearing simultaneously. I always have to wait till the wife’s going to be out awhile to call him, because we tie up the phone line for 1 1/2 - 2 hours every time we speak.

Anyway, I know many of you miss his presence here on FTE, as I do, and I wanted to update you on how he’s doing.

Thanks for sharing your encounter with the ND, ibuzzard.
Good to hear he is doing well. He taught me and 'schooled' me a bunch here at FTE!
I do miss the ol' parts guy.
