The D50TTB front and the Full floating 10.25" rear end. In an 88 F-250. I don't do any hardcore stuff, but I would like to know how well they will hold up if I decide to. I can't (money/time) swap to a solid axle front, either (first thing that comes to mind for most of us). Right now it is sitting stock tires and height. It may be lifted in the future. What are the weak points of either. Thanks for the help.
My sterling is very strong.. I've got about 400 horsepower
(750 CFM carb, performer intake, hedman headers to true dual 3" dynomaxes, cam and ported heads)... I have yet to beak it..
the front is not real strong, but w/o a locker i doubt you will break anything..
yeah,.. i got an 84 f-250 with a 10.25 in the rear and a d44ttb out front, all stock and i beat the hell outta my truck on the trails, holds up really well with the stocker 460, i've yet to have a problem with anything in the 4wd chassis..... i'm pleased
the sterling 10.25 full floater is just as strong as a dana 70 or 14 bolt, the 70 and sterling have 35 spline 1.5 inch axle shafts, the 14 bolt has 30 spline 1.5 inchers
as for strength.....you gotta get reeaal stupid with the skinny pedal.....ive been trying to break my 10.25 with my 44 tsls and nearly 500 hp......the crappy little 30spline 60 i had didnt last to long , even with 39's
so in short, if you want something beefier, go with a dana 80 or a 2.5 rockwell
as for the dana 50, the shafts are pretty much the same as a dana 44, they just have larger u joints)which really helps)
